Double-Take Move For Windows
Double-Take Move is a comprehensive migration
solution. It allows you to move an entire server, known
as a source, by mirroring an image of that source
to another server, known as the target. The source and
target servers can be physical or virtual.
Step1
You can download the Double take Move for windows from Vision solution
URL using your login credentials.
Step2
Once download completes, Please install the
DT Move for Winows on Source Server.
Step3
As you have downloaded latest version from
website, you can select No, Skip upate option and accept the licence agreement.
Step4
License activation read the information and
click Next and select client and server components on following screen.
Step5
The Double-Take installation program will
automatically attempt to configure ports 6320,
6325, and 6326 for Double-Take. If you cancel this
step, you will have to configure the ports manually.
Step6
Import your source Licence
key file here and mark the Activate licenses at the end of the setup.
Step7
Please leave the default
setup value on queue options untill if you have specific changes.
Step8
After the steps completes,
please click Install button to begin the Double-Take installation
Step1
After you have installed the console, you can
launch it by selecting Double-Take, Double-Take
Console from your Programs, All Programs, or Apps, depending on your
operating system.
The Double-Take Console is used to protect and
monitor your servers and jobs. Each time you open theDouble-Take Console, you
start at the Servers page which allows you to view, edit, add, remove, ormanage the servers
in your console. You can also create a new job from this page.
Step2
Once the Double take instlation completes on
source server follow the same above steps on target server and activate the
target licence. Below the picture shows the target licence activated.
Step3
Add server icon enter the server IP and it’s
login credntails to authenticate your target server.
Migration
Of Server
Step1
Create a full server migration job when you want to
migrate the entire source, including the server's system state and applications.
From the Servers page, right-click the server you want to migrate
and select Migrate. You canalso
highlight a server, click Create a New Job in the toolbar, then select Migrate.
Step2
Choose the type of workload that you want to
migrate. Under Server Workloads, in the
Workload types pane, select Full Server
Migration. In the Workload items pane, select the volumes
on the source that you want to migrate.
Step3
Choose your target server. This is the server that,
after the migration, will become your new source.
Step4
On the Options tab leave the default value
until you would require any modifications
Step5
The summary tab will show you the job details
and ensure that no error occurred on this stage.
Step6
The following Job screen will help you to
know about your migration status once the migration completed the Mirror stauts
turn to Completed.
Step7
The final steps to failover your sorce server
to target and this would take hardly 1-2 minutes only.
After these failover completes you will able
to see your target server turned as your source server.
Double-Take
OS and Technical Requirements
Your source server must meet the requirements
below. In addition, each target server must meet certain requirements, however,
they depend on the type of migration job you will be using. See the specific requirements
for each migration type for target server requirements.
Operating system—The source server can be a physical or
virtual server running any of the following operating system editions.
Windows 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 or later with the
following editions: Datacenter,
Enterprise (i386, x64), Standard (i386, x64),
Essential Business Server, Web Server,
Foundation Server, Small Business Server (including
SBS 2011), or Storage Server
Edition
Windows 2012 or Windows 2012 R2 with the following
editions: Datacenter, Standard,Essentials, or Foundation Edition
File system—Double-Take supports the NTFS file system. FAT,
FAT32, and ReFS are not supported.
System memory—The minimum system memory on each server
is 1 GB.

Disk space for program files—This is the amount of
disk space needed for the Double-Take program files. The amount depends on your
operating system version and ranges from 350-500 MB.
